2.10 - Love and War and Love and War Arthur: Hey Ashley, come on in! Paula: Cool. Ashley: Am I interrupting? Spencer: It's, uh, family night. Ashley: Oh, sorry. Paula: Um, why don't you come in and join us? Ashley: Are you sure? Arthur: Yeah! Come on, the movie's just about to start. [Everyone sits down] This is great, so great. Now listen, no talking, all right? If you hate it we'll talk about it afterwards together. Ashley: What are we watching? Spencer: The Others. Ashley: Wait, which one is that? Spencer: It's the one with Nicole Kidman. It's kinda scary, guys. Arthur: Yeah. Ashley: Oh, okay, that's the one where you find out that like in the end that they've been dead for the whole time, right? [silence] Arthur: Yeah, that's the one. Ashley: I'm sorry. Paula: You know we can still do the mother-daughter mani-pedi thing this weekend, maybe after, right? Spencer: Totally. Paula: Ashley, do you wanna come, too? Ashley: Uh, thank you but no thanks. That's something you guys should just do together. Ashley: Yeah, I'm just tired, I'm gonna go. I'm really sorry that I ruined family night. Spencer: Don't worry about it. We're all just making an effort to, you know, get along, get together. It's kinda weird, I know. Ashley: No, it's great, really. Spencer: What's up? I mean, aren't you happy that my mom's actually trying? This is huge, right? Ashley: Yeah, you guys are doing great. What next, a parade? Spencer: What does that mean? Ashley: Nothing, it just must be really nice to have a mom who actually wants you around. Spencer: Look Ash, I know that you feel bad but this time it's not about you and your mom. Okay, my mom is actually trying and I'm glad that she is. She's doing this for us. Ashley: You don't really believe that, do you? Spencer: Yeah, I do. Ashley: Wow, okay. Ashley: Hello. Spencer: Hey, where'd you go? Ashley: Nowhere, just been home thinking. Spencer: Are you okay? Ashley: Yeah, I don't know. Spencer: Look, I don't get it. We're out now, we're free, we don't have to go sneaking around in secret. Ashley: No, that's just it, we're the opposite of free. Everyone's in our business, especially your mom, she's everywhere. Spencer: Alright, whatever. Ashley: I know I'm not the one you want her to be with but I'm the one she chose. |
