Spencer: Last night, was I okay? Ashley: Yeah, you were. Spencer: Thanks, I'll get better I promise. Ashley: Shut up. It's not like I've had that much experience. Okay, that's a lie. But, it's different with everybody and it's great with you.

Aiden: What'll it be? Wash and wax? Clean your leather, shine your rims? Ashley: Is that code for something? Because I already told you, you're not my type anymore. Aiden: Yeah, I know. So are we okay from last weekend? I mean, after I got stupid and messed things up. Spencer: You didn't mess things up. You helped clear things up.
Ashley: [takes brownie] Mmm, I love these brownies. Okay, you are not even trying to give me the silent treatment, are you? Spencer: You've got a problem. You picked up a complete stranger. Ashley: How else are strangers supposed to become friends? Spencer: I don't know. You could start with coffee or a movie or something. Ashley: Yawn. Josie's cool, okay? We have things in common, unconventional families and lifestyles. Spencer: I think maybe you need attention because you're not getting enough of it at home. Ashley: Great. Another shrink. And who are you to be talking about my parents? Just because your mom bakes you brownies and cuts your sandwiches all diagonally does not mean that they're perfect, or even normal. When do you think the last time they saw each other naked was? Spencer: Don't change the subject. You hook up with people for no reason at all. Ashley: I like what I like. And I go after it. Spencer: You like too many people. Ashley: Relax, okay? She is just a friend, it's nothing to get all jealous over. It's not like you're my girlfriend. And wasn't it you that said I'm allowed to have other friends? Spencer: Fine, have other friends. I don't care. And I'm not jealous. Ashley: Good, because I'm skipping school today and taking her out on the town. Spencer: Your life will be hell if you get caught. Ashley: Then I won't get caught.
Ashley: Okay, please don't say "I told you so" but I was suspended again. They saw me at the beach. Spencer: With Josie? Ashley: Yep. So where were you last night? What were you doing? I tried to call you. Spencer: Nothing that would interest you cool people. Just watching TV with the Brady Bunch. How's your new friend? Ashley: About to go to Thailand. And after that she goes to India. Spencer: Well, tell her to say hi to the Dali Lama for me. Ashley: I will do that. Okay, well, I better go. They don't like suspended kids hanging around the quad trying to incite some sort of walk out. Spencer: Yeah, well, I've got a test to study for anyways. Ashley: What are you doing later? Wanna hang out? Spencer: Why, is Josie busy? Ashley: I don't know. Spencer: I can't. I have plans. Ashley: Tell Aiden I said "Hi". Spencer: It's not with Aiden. Not that that's any of your business anyways. Ashley: You're absolutely right. What you do is none of my business and what I do is none of yours. Spencer: Exactly. Ashley: Perfect.
Spencer: Right now I'm just worried about Ashley. Paula: Oh. Look, Spence, I really just wish that you'd expand your circle of friends– Spencer: You see? That's what I mean. You asked me what was bugging me and I told you and now you don't wanna talk about it. Paula: I'm sorry. It's just, wait a second. Alright, so what's going on with Ashley? Spencer: She's just got a lot going on right now. I mean, she's my friend, Mom, and that's not going to change. I can't help it. I just know that she has a good heart. Paula: You really think she's got a good heart? Spencer: Yes. I mean, she doesn't have what I have, you and Dad. And now she's hanging out with some gipsy girl and I don't trust her and she got suspended from school and I'm just worried about her and I just want to know that she's okay.
Paula: Hey, Ashley. Ashley: Hi. Paula: What are you doing out here? You're not a big fan of poker? Ashley: Uh-uh. Paula: Right. Okay, well, I will just leave you two alone. Thanks, I had a great night. [Paula goes inside] Ashley: Gosh, she so hates me. Spencer: Give her time. She'll come around. Ashley: Yeah, right. I doubt that. Look- Ashley: I'm sorry– Spencer: I'm sorry. Ashley: No, I'm sorry. You were right. My parents do suck. And I do like attention. And I do try and get it the wrong way sometimes. Spencer: Everybody makes mistakes. Ashley: Not you. You live in this great home, with your great brothers. Okay, one great brother, Clay. And your mom kisses you and let's you hang out with teenage lesbian freaks. Spencer: You're not a freak. You just act like one sometimes. Speaking of freaks, where's Josie? Ashley: Who knows? I let her crash at my house. She ate everything, made so many phone calls. And when I woke up, she was gone. Along with half of my clothes, my favorite bootleg Damien Rice CD and my iPod. Spencer: Ouch. Ashley: I'm so stupid. Your tried to tell me but I wouldn't listen. [Paula comes back outside with a tray of milk and brownies] Paula: Hey guys. I thought you might like a snack. Ashley: Thank you. Spencer: Thanks, Mom. Paula: So, Ashley, I was thinking. Why don't you spend the night? Ashley: Really? Paula: Yeah, I made your bed up on the couch. Ashley: Okay, thank you. Paula: You're welcome. [Paula goes back inside] Spencer: See? I told you I'dd talk to her. It's not so bad living with the Bradys. I'm glad you came back tonight. I couldn't handle another night without talking to you. Ashley: Me too. I love... these brownies.
